Assistant Accountant
Plymouth, Devon
£30,000 - £35,000

Our client, a prominent organisation in the South West, is actively seeking a dynamic Assistant Accountant to join their expanding team in Plymouth, on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Assistant Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the finance department with overseeing several budget areas, ensuring accurate and timely recording of expenditures. Your responsibilities include meticulous management of financial records, analysing spending patterns, and identifying discrepancies.

The responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain specific budget areas and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare and document monthly accruals, prepayments, and other necessary journal entries.
  • Supervise the processing of invoices to ensure timely payments.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and associated journal entries.
  • Prepare cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making
  • Support the budgeting and reforecasting processes.

The candidate:

  • An accountancy qualification (minimum AAT or equivalent).
  • Proven experience within a similar role.
  • A high level of accuracy and strong organisational skills are required.
  • Proficiency in IT, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills, is necessary.
