Assistant Accountant | £35,000 - £40,000 | Nottingham | Hybrid Working (2 Days WFH)

A high growth business are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their Finance team in Nottingham. There's plenty to be getting on with in this role; you will play a key part in the month end process including updating prepayments and accruals, carrying out balance sheet recs, reviewing payroll, support with VAT returns and the annual audit and much more.

What's the job?

  • Assist with month-end processes, ensuring accurate and timely closing of ledgers.
  • Update and manage prepayments, accruals, and other balance sheet items.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations for all group companies, including inter-company transactions.
  • Review payroll preparation for CFO approval and ensure prompt payment of payroll deductions such as pension contributions.
  • Prepare VAT returns and maintain fixed asset registers.
  • Oversee credit control and accounts payable functions.
  • Support the annual audit process and ESG reporting within the business.
  • Respond to queries and questions from various departments.
  • Adhoc support to the Finance Manager and wider Finance team as necessary.

What are you like?

  • AAT qualified and/or CIMA/ACCA part qualified.
  • Proven experience in a similar role (3-5 years' experience).
  • Organised with a proactive and positive approach.
  • Proficient in various accounting systems (experience with Sage Intacct is advantageous) and a strong user of Excel.
  • Able to work under deadlines and coordinate effectively with others.
