Our client is looking for an experienced Assistant Estimator reporting to the Head of Construction. 

 

You will be confident in assisting, managing and coordinating all aspects of tenders ranging from £10,000 to £1m+. Responsible for logging, downloading and compiling tender proposals, completing online tender submissions under the guidance of the Head of Construction and ensuring bid specifications are collated and logged.   


The Assistant estimator will be the first port of call for new projects; downloading all documents and creating tender files, liaising with the HoC to ensure new works are appropriate, acknowledged & assigned to the relevant people and making initial contact with suppliers to obtain costs.

 

  • Preparation of documentation and quotations at tender stage, including cost budgets and cost estimates for new contracts.
  • Creating RAMs and O&Ms documents when projects go live.
  • Maintaining a database of all projects that have been tendered for and creating reports on this data.
  • Undertaking basic quantity surveying, using bespoke software and create pricing documents.
  • Occasionally accompanying visits to potential project sites to assist with the pricing process.
  • Creating physical project folders to be used as part of the handover process to the Contracts Managers when projects go live.
  • Contacting suppliers and manufacturers for quotations and project support during tender process.
  • Following up bids once submitted
  • Liaising with clients, architects, suppliers, subcontractors and project managers.
  • Assist and support other members of the team as and when required in general office admin and duties.
  • Assisting the HoC where required with the daily operations of the team.



Requirements
  • Ideally a graduate in Building or Property Surveying, Project Managing or similar
  • Previous experience within the Construction industry, ideally with record of estimating
  • Demonstrable ability to understand technical drawings
  • Experience working with Gantt charts and schedules of work
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent I.T skills
  • Experience in all listed duties isn’t a necessity and full training will be given to the right candidate. They are looking for someone enthusiastic, eager to learn, with an interest in a career within the construction industry.



Benefits
  • Base Salary: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per annum (based on experience)
  • Hours: 09:00 – 18:00 Monday to Friday
  • Contract: Permanent   
  • Location: SE1
  • Holiday: 20 days pa, in addition to Public Holidays. Additional days gifted for birthday and Christmas holidays (varied from year to year).
  • Pension: Company contribution
