Assistant Financial Accountant

Location: Hemel Hempstead (Hybrid Working) 2 days min in office

Salary: £30, 000 - £35,000 plus benefits, including bonus 

Role Overview: As an Assistant Financial Accountant at Recordati, you’ll collaborate with the Financial Accountant to support the global financial function. Your responsibilities will include managing month-end financial close processes for Sales, Purchases, and other operating expenses (OPEX). Additionally, you’ll maintain balance sheets and profit and loss (P&L) statements for your assigned entity. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Financial Accountant in closing processes for assigned entities.
  • Handle accounts receivable duties, including processing customer payments, sending statements, and reconciling the accounts receivable ledger.
  • Calculate and post bad debt provisions at month-end, analyzing aged customer balances.
  • Support bank reconciliations, ensuring timely updates and reconciliation.
  • Prepare and reconcile Balance Sheet accounts (intercompany, fixed assets, prepayments, payroll, and accruals).
  • Ensure timely completion of monthly close tasks.
  • Maintain Ledger Accounts, analyzing OPEX and correcting misaligned costs.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reporting requirements for group finance.
  • Collaborate with region controllers to explain and understand variances.

Financial Control:

  • Regularly review processes and controls to maintain a strong control environment.
  • Document core processes, identifying risk and control points.
  • Keep the general journals log up to date and signed off.
  • Meet period close deadlines for users in Navision.
  • Establish effective internal controls to comply with anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws, policies, and relevant regulations.
  • Proactively identify and report compliance issues or emerging risks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Part Qualified Accountant
  • Further qualification or degree in a related discipline (preferred but not essential)

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Numerate and analytical

Technical Competencies:

  • Desirable experience in SAP 4 Hana, Navision, or Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
  • Intermediate Excel skills
