Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of underwriting? We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Underwriter to join our well-established Motor team.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our Underwriting team by assessing and underwriting business in alignment with our business plan and within your delegated authority.  You’ll be joining a team of knowledgeable and experienced colleagues — making this a fantastic opportunity to grow your career in the insurance industry!

Your new role

  • Assist with underwriting new business, MTAs, and renewals in accordance with Governance Underwriting Standards and Product rules.
  • Develop and maintain system and process knowledge within Distribution.
  • Stay updated on insurance guidelines, policy changes, and modifications.
  • Provide exceptional underwriting and claims customer service support to both intermediary and direct customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation, industry codes, and company policies.
  • Foster good working relationships and maintain timely communication with internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement 'best practice' and process improvements to reduce expenses.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement processes and engage in self-learning.

About you

  • Motor insurance experience across new business and renewal business
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • An analytical mindset; confident working with data
  • Good communication and relationship building skills
  • A natural problem-solver, tenacious when it comes to resolving queries and seeing tasks through to completion.
  • Comfortable using a range of systems, with a good working knowledge of Excel and other relevant software tools.
