Title: Attendance Officer

Location: Northeast

Pay: £13.50 - £15 per hour including holiday pay

Duration: Full-Time, Start Sep until Dec (at least, potential to be extended)

Reed - Further Education are seeking an Attendance Officer to work with post 16 students tracking their attendance and doing home visits.

What’s the day-to-day responsibilities of an attendance officer?

  • To manage daily attendance processes effectively, ensuring that students are promptly registered and first day absence notifications and calls are made in a timely manner to ensure the safeguarding and welfare of students.
  • To work with the Leadership team and pastoral teams to manage effective short-, medium and long-term attendance strategies in-line with both local and national attendance processes.
  • To work closely with the Attendance and Wellbeing Officer, and Wellbeing team to produce reports, data and analyse intervention to support with their work
  •  To ensure the effective administration of attendance systems and procedures in-line with local and national expectations
  • To produce reports on attendance, lateness and ongoing trends and the impact of attendance strategies.
  • To ensure all daily routine attendance processes are completed in a timely manner, including inputting data, distribution of registers, fire registers as required, and first day absence notifications.
  • To follow up reporting both internally and/or externally as appropriate and notifying Designated Officers of absences related to vulnerable students.
  • To do home visits to the students where necessary.

What are the required skills and qualifications needed for this role?

  • Knowledge and/or experience of mentoring
  • Full working knowledge of relevant policies, including child protection / codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
  • Experience of working with students with additional needs.
  • Experience interacting with 16–19-year-olds in education or apprentice setting.
  • Level 2 or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Car Driver (desirable), if not then good access to public transport.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Reed Compliance
