We are seeking an Attendance Officer to join a dedicated team, committed to ensuring outstanding school attendance. The role involves working closely with Pastoral Leaders, Heads of School, and other key stakeholders to monitor and promote punctuality and attendance, ensuring the well-being and academic success of our pupils.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Monitor school attendance and punctuality, ensuring registers are completed accurately and consistently.
  • Collaborate with Pastoral Leaders to identify pupils of concern and investigate non-attendance issues.
  • Implement creative and effective action plans to improve attendance for pupils at risk.
  • Handle attendance-related communications, including calls and emails, with a focus on first-day response for selected pupils.
  • Work in close partnership with team members to maintain timely communication regarding vulnerable pupils’ attendance to ensure their safety.
  • Follow up on absence notes in coordination with the pastoral team.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Heads of Year to discuss and address persistent absenteeism.
  • Liaise with the School’s Education Welfare Officer and the Pastoral Deputy Headteacher to produce punctuality reports and distribute attendance letters.
  • Undertake additional duties as required, including data processing, managing detentions, and inputting and collating data from SIMs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the importance of school attendance and the impact on pupil welfare and achievement.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Competency in using school management systems, such as SIMs, for data processing and reporting.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and offering creative solutions.

Location:  Brentford 

Hours:  Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.   Term time only
