Auction House Valuations Director

We are pleased to be assisting a renowned international auction house that is looking for an Auction House Valuations Director to oversee its London Valuation division. The successful applicant will be in charge of overseeing high-level consignments, maintain client relations, and spearhead the expansion and strategic goals of the department.

Responsibilities:

• Identify products for sale and bargain with customers for auctions on international markets.
• Provide valuations in a variety of settings, such as the homes of your clients and the auction house.
• Oversee the creation of valuations for insurance, probate, and sales purposes by leading the London Valuation team.
• Organise international valuations in collaboration with colleagues in the US, UK, and Europe.
• Oversee sales and high-level valuation business pitches while maintaining highest levels of production and research quality.
• Create marketing plans and oversee the department's budget.
• Encourage private clients and intermediaries—lawyers, accountants, wealth managers, and family offices—to use your valuation services.
• Work together with specialised departments to manage client relationships and complete valuations.

Requirements:

• Minimum of ten years of experience in the auction house sector, either as a specialist or as a generalist.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a track record of leading and motivating teams.
• A thorough understanding of values, fashions, and the auction and trade environment; having proficiency in one or more of these areas is beneficial.
• Familiarity collaborating with middlemen like attorneys, family offices, and insurance experts.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities in creating written and verbal appraisals for insurance, probate, and sales.
