Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Controller - Associate Vice President to join their dynamic team in London. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee the production of PNL and PNL Explains for Exotic Trading Desks within ex-Fixed Income. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the daily PNL for all sign-off groups within the PNL group belonging to the team. This role offers a competitive salary of £550 per day Umbrella.

What you'll do:

As a Product Controller - AVP, your primary responsibility will be overseeing the production of PNL and PNL Explains for Exotic Trading Desks within ex-Fixed Income. You will be accountable for delivering the daily PNL for all sign-off groups within the team. Your role will involve reviewing and challenging the PNL delivered by Associate members of your team, running end-of-day Predicts, producing official PNL figures, reconciling system valuations against calculations for specific products such as Futures and Bonds, among other responsibilities. Your ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritise independently, maintain strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail will be crucial in this role.

  • Oversee the production of Associate members of the team providing mandatory checks on figures delivered to Front Office, RISK and Finance where required
  • Review and challenge the PNL delivered by Associate members of the team
  • Run end of day Predict where relevant, investigate discrepancies with traders' predict and understand economic reasons justifying the P/L
  • Produce official PNL figures, investigate discrepancies with expectations done the previous day and understand economic reasons justifying the P/L
  • Review the PNL Explain in depth and correct wrong effect if no technical solution can be found to overturn misallocation
  • Reconcile system valuation against calculation for specific products such as Futures and Bonds
  • Review cash payments expected from exotic products
  • Validate adjustments in the economic PNL and explain as cover for manager where required

What you bring:

As a Product Controller - AVP, you will bring a wealth of experience from working in a control function within an investment bank. You will have a university degree in Finance, Business, Economics or hard science or equivalent business experience. Your in-depth knowledge of instruments traded in Fixed Income as well as exposure to other asset classes will be crucial in this role. You will have detailed theoretical knowledge of derivative pricing and strong understanding of risk factors (the "Greeks"). Your ability to translate detailed knowledge and experience into recommendations to improve team operating practices will be highly valued. Your excellent written and oral English skills will enable you to articulate technical issues effectively.

  • University degree in Finance, Business, Economics or hard science or equivalent business experience
  • Broad experience working in a control function within an investment bank
  • Previous Experience in project management
  • In-depth knowledge of instruments traded in Fixed Income as well as exposure to other asset classes
  • Detailed theoretical knowledge of derivative pricing
  • Working experience with PNL explains (Step Revaluation as well as Risk Based Explains) and strong knowledge and understanding of risk factors (the "Greeks")
  • Ability to translate detailed knowledge and experience into recommendations to improve team operating practices.
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritise workload and escalate issues to management
  • Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral English skills
