Back-end Developer

A unique opportunity to join an early-stage Ed-Tech software company with a brilliant platform that is set to revolutionise the way students learn in immersive and realistic environments. This company which is founded by experts in education has a platform in place but now needs a Back-End Software Engineer to work closely with the VR & AI Developers take the platform to the next level to create software solutions

Please note employment for this role will commence in October 2024, so may not be suited to those seeking immediate employment. However, may be well suited to a professional who has returned to University to complete a Masters or Ph.D. further into their career.

Location: 4 days a week remote - 1 day in office in Cambridge. Part-time working options available (minimum of 3 days per week)

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum + benefits

Requirements for Back-end Developer:

• Strong commercial experience in Back-End Development
• Proficiency in server-side languages such as Python, Java, PHP or Node.js
• Experience within database systems i.e. MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
• Degree educated in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning or closely related subject
• Knowledge within Front-End technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Keen to work in a start-up environment as an early-stage employee
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to work with autonomy and as part of a team
• Great communication skills with fluent spoken and written English
• It would be beneficial if you have knowledge of Cloud Platforms, Docker, Kubernetes and Agile

Responsibilities for Back-end Developer:

• Develop and maintain robust server-side logic to ensure high performance and responsiveness to front-end requests.
• Design and implement efficient data storage solutions for AI applications
• Collaborate closely with front-end developers to seamlessly integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Optimise applications for superior speed and scalability.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
• Troubleshoot and debug applications
• Engage in code reviews
