You will be involved in optimising existing BMS control strategies, upgrading outdated BMS controls and network infrastructure, and integrating low-carbon solutions such as Solar PV, heat pumps, and hydronic system optimisation.

The Role:

As a BMS Optimisation Project Engineer, you will collaborate closely with our team on various BMS energy-saving initiatives, focusing on project implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed surveys of BMS and HVAC equipment to identify energy conservation opportunities.
  • Assess baseline performance of BMS control strategies by reviewing strategy drawings, O&M documentation, and operating conditions.
  • Gather and analyse BMS logs or establish new logging systems to support energy-saving modelling.
  • Partner with BMS sub-contractors to design and estimate BMS energy-saving initiatives for tenders and investment-grade proposals.
  • Collaborate with sub-contractors to develop and gain client approval for BMS design data, including control philosophies, risk assessments, method statements, and impact assessments.
  • Work with project delivery teams to ensure BMS initiatives meet design specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  • Assist in the commissioning, witness testing, and handover of BMS energy-saving projects.
  • Support the measurement and verification of guaranteed energy savings.

This role is primarily remote, balancing home-based work with travel to project sites and our client's office in Burnley. It is not site-based, and full-time travel is not required, however you will be asked to attend meetings and visit sites.

The Ideal Candidate:

We seek a hardworking, self-motivated individual with proven experience in delivering BMS optimisation and upgrade projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working with BMS sub-contractors and project teams to ensure projects meet specifications, budgets, and deadlines.

Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in energy performance contracting is a plus but not essential.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in BMS and HVAC control strategy design and operation.
  • Proven track record in delivering BMS projects via sub-contractor supply chains.
  • Familiarity with integrating HVAC plant into BMS, with knowledge of networks like BACnet, Modbus, MBus.
  • Experience collaborating with IT teams to upgrade IT infrastructure from proprietary BMS networks to Ethernet-based systems.

  • Flexible in managing workload and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.
