Role Profile:

Our client is a fast paced and continually growing business located near the centre of Burnley. (Approx £7 million turnover). They are seeking a talented Bookkeeper / Management Accountant to work in a busy office. The role will be very hands on and transactional as well as processing Management Accounts and providing punctual management reports.

Benefits and Hours:

  • Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 per annum (negotiable)
  • Hours: Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours. Flexible start times to suit. 8am, 8.30am or 9am
  • Full Time / Office Based / Permanent.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of working within an accounts role, confident in producing accounts to trial balance stage, overseeing VAT filings and the preparation of management accounts. A user of Sage software is essential.

The position offers the opportunity to support with advancing the processes and systems, aligning them with the evolving needs and growth of the business.

Principal Responsibilities/Accountabilities of the Bookkeeper / Management Accountant role:

· Reporting into the Office Manager / Finance Manager, the workload will vary widely and include the following:

· Processing Invoices, Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger and Credit Control duties

· Balance sheet and statement reconciliations

· Support the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with best practices

· Accurately post and review monthly journal entries

· Balance Sheet Reconciliation including accruals and pre-payments

· Managing Timesheets and Subcontractor payroll details to pass over to the company accountant

· VAT Returns

· Dealing with accounts queries with confidence - has the support of an external accountant

· Liaison with suppliers, customers and subcontractors

· As a small office team, there will be additional administrative tasks

Skills and Experience required

AAT L4 and / or CIMA / ACCA Part Qualified / Qualified or QBE

Excellent standard of Sage Line 50 is required

Good computer literacy - experience with MS Office is essential - Word & Excel

Ability to work in an office with 'banter’, though equally be able to focus and hold strong attention to detail which is essential

Comfortable working in a busy office environment

Ability to work independently and proactively

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - both verbal and written
