Job Title: Bookkeeping & Purchasing Assistant
Recruiting on behalf of our client

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated individual for the position of Bookkeeping & Purchasing Assistant. This role is designed to support both the purchasing and finance departments, ensuring accurate financial data entry and timely reporting. You will play a key part in managing supplier and customer accounts, while also assisting with purchasing tasks to help streamline operations.

Key Details:

  • Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Location: Office-based - Old Whittington, Chesterfield S41
  • Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum
  • Benefits:

Key Responsibilities:

Purchasing Assistant Tasks

  • Chase delivery dates and overdue purchase orders with suppliers
  • Book deliveries into stock
  • Check invoices against purchase orders, resolving price or quantity discrepancies with the Purchasing Manager
  • Raise bills of assembly for manufactured items and print product labels
  • Monitor and manage the purchasing email inbox

Bookkeeping Assistant Tasks

  • Process supplier invoices and maintain accurate reconciliations for customer accounts
  • Support the finance department with ad-hoc finance tasks
  • Maintain supplier accounts, resolving discrepancies and managing queries via phone or email
  • Handle customer accounts by allocating credit notes, recording remittances, and sending statements
  • Review and action overdue customer debts as required
Requirements
  • Experience with Xero, Dext, and Unleashed software is desirable, but not essential
  • Capable of working on your own initiative with a keen attention to detail
  • Technologically minded, with a proactive approach to improving systems and efficiencies
  • Strong communication skills to interact with suppliers and customers
  • Flexible approach to daily tasks and ad-hoc duties

Team & Work Environment:

  • You will work closely with the Finance Manager and the purchasing team in an open-plan office
  • A positive, cheerful personality will thrive in this team
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn are essential
