Job Purpose:
The Brokerage Officer will focus on understanding the population's needs and resources, planning with local people and partners to develop effective solutions, and supporting ongoing improvements. The aim is to foster a person-centred, place-based, and outcomes-focused approach across the local system in partnership with local people, NHS commissioners, and providers.

  • Job Title: Brokerage Officer
  • Pay Rate: £15 - £18 per hour plus holiday pay PAYE
  • Full Time Hours: 37 per week, with flexible working options.
  • Team: Brokerage
  • Service Area: Health, Education, and Social Care Commissioning
  • Budget Responsibility: No

Job Responsibilities

  • Undertake brokerage activities to identify, source, and establish effective care and support arrangements for children and vulnerable adults.
  • Receive referrals, providing information and advice to service users and their families.
  • Identify care and support options within cost and service requirements.
  • Negotiate prices and ensure cost-effective arrangements.
  • Complete and coordinate contract governance documentation; attend panel meetings.
  • Liaise with service users, operational services, providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate data recording, documentation, and administration for individual care and support arrangements.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and the wider market.
  • Contribute to other commissioning activities for a joined-up approach.
  • Undertake other duties as required by the role.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant work experience in purchasing, sourcing, contract management, and/or financial management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant tools.
  • Understanding of legislative frameworks for safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and deliver responsibilities.
  • Collaborative and constructive teamwork skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant qualification in Health, Education, Social Care, or Commissioning.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable people
  • Experience working with service users, families, and suppliers..
