Timeplan Education is recruiting an experienced BSL Teaching Assistant qualified in British Sign Language Level 3. Alternatively, they are happy to receive applications from native BSL users. The position is to work within the deaf/hard of hearing provision.

You will support deaf pupils by providing BSL interpretation in the classroom and during extracurricular activities. You will also help the pupils develop their BSL skills, which will enable them to become more independent.

Job responsibilities:

  • Supporting deaf pupils
  • Communicate using BSL and check/manage audio equipment
  • Comfortable supporting pupils with various Learning Difficulties
  • Ability to engage and support pupils
  • Assist with personal care if needed
  • Supervising pupils' behaviour

Job requirements:

  • Previous experience of supporting children or Adults
  • Level 3 in British Sign Language minimum (BSL)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid Enhanced DBS check registered online with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Available Full-Time 5 days a week
  • Able to commit for the full academic year
