We are now seeking a passionate and dedicated British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team.

Job Description:
As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting deaf or hard-of-hearing students within the classroom. You will work closely with teachers, students, and other staff members to ensure that all students have equal access to education and are fully included in school activities.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring that content is accessible for BSL users.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
Facilitate communication between deaf students, their peers, and teachers using British Sign Language.
Support the development of BSL skills among students and staff.
Help to create and maintain an inclusive learning environment.
Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
Assist with the preparation of educational materials and resources.
Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development sessions as required.

Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in British Sign Language (minimum Level 3 BSL qualification).
Previous experience working with deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals, preferably in an educational setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A genuine passion for supporting the educational development of students with special needs.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

Desirable:
Experience in a teaching assistant role or similar.
Knowledge of other communication methods used by deaf individuals.
Understanding of the challenges faced by deaf students in a mainstream educational environment.
