We are looking for a dedicated Communication Support Worker to join the team, providing essential support for deaf and hard of hearing students. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring these students have full access to the curriculum and are fully integrated within the college environment.
Day-to-day of the role:- Facilitate communication between deaf and hard of hearing students and their peers, as well as teaching and support staff, using British Sign Language (BSL).
- Support deaf and hard of hearing students in class, ensuring they can fully participate and access the curriculum.
- Promote awareness of the support services available within the college for deaf and hard of hearing students.
- Encourage understanding and awareness of the needs of deaf and hard of hearing learners among staff and students.
- Work collaboratively with the teaching team to adapt resources and strategies to meet the needs of students.
- Provide feedback and advice to staff on how to enhance the learning experience for deaf and hard of hearing students.
- Qualified to a minimum of British Sign Language Level 3.
- Demonstrable good signing skills.
- Experience of working with deaf and/or hard of hearing individuals, ideally within an educational setting.
- Strong team working skills and a flexible approach to meeting the diverse needs of all students.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
