Communication Support Worker
  • Part-Time, Term-Time (Fixed term until 18th July 2025)
  • Location: West London
  • Salary: £22,909 to £26,173 

We are looking for a dedicated Communication Support Worker to join the team, providing essential support for deaf and hard of hearing students. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring these students have full access to the curriculum and are fully integrated within the college environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Facilitate communication between deaf and hard of hearing students and their peers, as well as teaching and support staff, using British Sign Language (BSL).
  • Support deaf and hard of hearing students in class, ensuring they can fully participate and access the curriculum.
  • Promote awareness of the support services available within the college for deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Encourage understanding and awareness of the needs of deaf and hard of hearing learners among staff and students.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to adapt resources and strategies to meet the needs of students.
  • Provide feedback and advice to staff on how to enhance the learning experience for deaf and hard of hearing students.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified to a minimum of British Sign Language Level 3.
  • Demonstrable good signing skills.
  • Experience of working with deaf and/or hard of hearing individuals, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong team working skills and a flexible approach to meeting the diverse needs of all students.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
