My client has seen huge success and growth in recent years, and we are looking for a specialist Class 3 Registered Building Inspector.

To undertake the role of a BCS. The post holder will deal with a range of complex building control duties.

Responsible for the day-to-day project management of multiple projects. Ensuring, as far as Reasonably practicable, compliance with building regulations and associated standards of construction projects and / or conversion projects.

Key responsibilities & Accountabilities

Support the client’s design and construction team in reviewing proposals for high rise, residential and complex commercial developments.

Oversee the building control service of more complex developments such as care homes, hotels, and student accommodation.

Help promote the introduction of new products and services as required.

Responsible for upholding the groups quality (ISO9001) risk management and ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements working with the Risk and Compliance Team.

Ensure awareness and uphold best practice in respect of all risk management initiatives and that all policies and procedures are adhered to within your remit to ensure rigor around PI/PL insurance and Building Safety Regulatory requirements.

Undertaking restricted activities in accordance with the RBI Code of Conduct for assigned projects - to ascertain compliance with building regulations and associated standards of construction projects and/or conversion projects.

Mentor or support less experienced technical staff to ensure a standardised offering of excellent service levels in all aspects of RBCA and all related activities, identifying and managing risk including but not limited to training and development requirements of all offices within the specified region.

Support the Building Control Manager (BCM) in the delivery of the building control service

An advocate for Assent represents the business in a professional manner.

Taking responsibility for projects within their remit.

Providing technical support and guidance to clients and less experienced employees.

Effective diary management to optimise inspection visits to sites in relation to plan checking requirements.

Recording and maintaining accurate inspection records and effective communication to clients and their agents.

Managing relationships with key customers to promote business development

Assessing applications.

Attending [KM1] team meetings, training sessions and seminars.

Negotiating with clients.

Acting as a coach/mentor to staff under training.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

. Project leadership, decision making, problems solving, record keeping, analysis of information, time management, change management, communication, influencing and interpersonal skills, reporting, IT proficiency.

Professional qualification/membership Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or MCABE

Hold and maintain Specialist Technical Class 3 Registered Building Inspector (RBI) status.

Conversant with relevant legislation, technical guidance and the Building Safety Regulatory requirements.

Fire safety.

Health and Safety.

A knowledge of the construction design process and RIBA Stages of work.

Codes of conduct and performance standards.

Knowledge of customer care and the principles of equal opportunities in providing a Building Control function.

A proven track record in ensuring compliance and enforcement with the Building Regulations.

Comprehensive breath of experience of different types of buildings and projects

Managing site inspections including area of challenge.

Assessing safety and risk.

Key member of the Technical team must develop strong internal working relationships across all areas of the business.

Relationship management and development across all teams and stakeholders.

Build and maintain client relationships across a mix of design and construction teams.

Assessing compliance against regulation & legislation.

Plan checking across a wide range of project types.

Site Inspection.

Assessing safety and risk.

Working Experience in a building control environment

UK driving licence
