About the team

They are a national team of Business Development experts, renowned for their professionalism and experience. Their team works alongside their lawyers to identify and grow business opportunities to showcase this law firms expertise, brand and reputation to our clients, contacts and intermediaries. They work quickly and effectively to make sure their lawyers are equipped with the tools and resources they need to grow their practices and sectors.

This is a challenging role in a busy department, but you’ll be supported by the professional, friendly, hard-working BD team who are all fuelled by their integrity and desire to make their business succeed.


About the role

Working as part of their Business Development team, you’ll provide administrative support at all times. This is a busy and fast-paced role, so you’ll need to be able to work quickly and accurately, building strong relationships with your team and their lawyers. Organisation and communication are key to achieving success in this role, coupled with a proactive approach and an ability to integrate quickly into the office dynamic.


Key responsibilities

  • Support in the delivery of business development and national growth initiatives and activity across the Birmingham office

  • Assist in identifying and researching target markets, and potential new business opportunities

  • Maintain business development pipelines, including attending regular stakeholder meetings with the Senior BD Manager and produce reports to help support the delivery of business development plans

  • Support in the planning, running and delivery of events, including managing delegate lists, 'meeting and greeting’ clients/prospects and ensuring follow up conversation opportunities and post event activity is maximised

  • Attend business/networking functions and provide feedback and information on market trends

  • Support the Senior BD Manager in the development of relationships with key intermediaries within the local marketplace

  • Identify/research target clients within existing and emerging sectors, liaising with key stakeholders

  • Work closely with the Senior BD Manager in developing opportunities and initiatives to increase new business across the office, region and firm.

  • Support in the drafting of compelling and engaging pitches and credential documents by practice area, team and sector

  • Work closely with key stakeholders to develop and present new products and services to enhance existing relationships and grow revenue

  • Monitor and measure return on investment for marketing and business development activities within the office

  • Work closely with key stakeholders to build overall brand and reputation within the external market place

  • Work closely with the senior business development team in implementing and driving growth strategy across the firm


Skills and qualifications needed:

  • A strong understanding of business-to-business marketing, business development and relationship management within professional services

  • A dynamic and highly motivated team player, able to work on own initiative that enjoys taking the lead to drive projects forward

  • Evidence of key stakeholder management skills, ideally gained within a professional services environment

  • Demonstrable understanding of business development, client development and CRM

  • Effective relationship builder - is able to interact with individuals at all levels across the business

  • Shows initiative and has a natural desire to go the extra mile

  • Able to think strategically and commercially

  • Strong operational and project management skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Attention to detail and accuracy
