The Opportunity:
Nigel Wright Group are supporting a repeat leading professional services client in their search for a successful Business Development professional who has the ability to motivate themselves and influence others. The successful candidate will have a strong commercial market awareness and will be well organised and structured in their approach to increase sales amongst existing clients as well as introducing new clients to the business. The role of the Business Development Manager will be to support the Business Development Director on BD activity and client relationship management, enabling business growth through the identification, acquisition and development of key strategic relationships. Can be based Newcastle, Leeds or Manchester

Role Profile:
  • Support on the leading and coaching of fee earners to increase and protect revenue from the Firm's existing client base through effective client relationship management
  • Support in implementation of development plans and forecasting sales targets and growth projections which are in line with business requirements
  • Develop and build sustainable relationships with new clients
  • Progress opportunities in a professional, organised and effective manner
  • Liaise and support fee earners in new business opportunities by gaining appointments with decision makers across a wide range of companies
  • Be able to identify opportunities for campaigns / promotions and legal services
  • Co-ordinate prospecting and promote/create opportunities for dialogue and discussion with targets, leading to new client/business revenue
  • Support the BD Director on the development of departmental business plans/growth objectives, including the delivery of an annual client relationship plan
  • Contribute and maintain the annual client relationship plan having this at the forefront of client conversations
  • Support the senior stakeholders in the continual review and progress of annual business plans, embedding accountability for business development across departments as necessary
  • Collaborate with and provide input to the Marketing/Tender team in the preparation of tenders/pitches
  • Reporting BD data on a monthly basis providing key trends and identifying key areas of concern
  • Take a lead on creating opportunities for growth via internal cross selling

Person Specification:
  • Strong influencing and change management skills
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • Experience of business development and client relationship management in a professional environment
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Proactive approach to internal relationships and networking externally to build and develop strategic relationships
  • Strategic outlook to support the firm's relationships and business requirements
  • Experience in project management

Other information:
  • The role is 35 hours a week and allows for hybrid working with at least 40% of the time based at one of the offices which equates to 2 days (FTE), the remainder of their time can be worked from home.
  • Although the team (Business Development Director and PA to the Business Development Team) are based in Newcastle, the client is open to applicants from both Leeds and Manchester as they have offices there. There will be travel between offices and then in and around the base city
