Business Development Manager

Business Development Manager Job Purpose:

As a Business Development Manager, you will be instrumental in driving revenue growth by promoting and selling our innovative Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to understand customer needs, present products effectively, and build strong relationships to achieve sales targets.

Business Development Manager Key Responsibilities:

Prospecting and Lead Generation:

  • Identify and qualify potential clients through thorough research, strategic networking, and proactive cold calling.
  • Generate high-quality leads and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects.

Product Presentation and Consultation:

  • Understand customer requirements and customise LIMS solutions to meet their specific needs.
  • Conduct compelling product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the unique features and benefits of company products and services.
  • Provide expert consultative advice on how LIMS can enhance laboratory efficiency and ensure compliance.

Sales Process Management:

  • Manage the entire sales cycle from initial contact to closing deals, ensuring a seamless process.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with technical teams to ensure smooth implementation and customer satisfaction.
  • Report directly to the Director of Sales.

Relationship Building:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including laboratory managers, scientists, and IT professionals.
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to expand your professional network.

Market Research and Competitive Analysis:

  • Stay well-informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and market dynamics.
  • Utilise this knowledge to strategically position company solutions in the market.

Sales Reporting and Forecasting:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of sales activities, leads, and opportunities.
  • Provide regular, insightful reports to management on sales performance and forecasts.

Background and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Life Sciences, Computer Science, Business).
  • Proven track record in B2B sales, preferably in software or technology solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of laboratory work-flows and processes is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Experience in contract negotiation and closing sales.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
