Ambition working with a Top 20 accountancy firm in London who are currently seeking a Business Services Manager to join their accounts department in a newly created role. The Firm:

A top 20 accountancy and business advisory firm who have gone from strength to strength in recent years with offices throughout the UK, with this role based in in the City of London. Our client can boast reputed portfolio of clients including a significant amount of multinational and listed businesses, as well as the typical owner managed businesses you can expect in a role such as this. The Role:

Owing to consistent growth the newly created Business Services Manager role will be responsible for providing leadership to the team, managing a portfolio of clients, and supporting Directors and Partners. The role will cover a range of industries and service offerings, from management accounts and VAT to statutory accounts. This role also includes planning, monitoring, reviewing work of junior members and taking responsibility for team and department initiatives. Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Comprehensive examination of management accounts, reports, and VAT returns to ensure their technical precision. Any discrepancies are addressed and rectified prior to client submission.
  • Thorough review of statutory financial statements and associated work paper files to confirm their technical accuracy. Any irregularities are resolved before they are submitted to the client.
  • Overseeing the submission of VAT returns, EC sales lists, and Intrastat returns, along with any required payments. Collaborating with local service providers to ensure all foreign compliance returns are filed promptly as required.
  • Effectively addressing and responding to clients' reporting or technical queries, whether received via email or phone.
  • Overseeing staff and managing their workload.
  • Routinely reviewing and scheduling work plans for staff to optimise resource utilisation.
  • Supervising Accounts and Management Accountants, ensuring their work is completed accurately and providing guidance as needed.
  • Conducting regular appraisal reviews and participating in feedback/coaching sessions for staff to foster skill development within the team.
  • WIP & billing control; implement and monitor budgets, overseeing costings on client portfolio and reporting / explaining recovery to management on a monthly basis. Prepare and review monthly and ad hoc bills
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to existing compliance procedures, processing routines, and control systems to enhance efficiency, where applicable.
  • Maintaining proactive and effective communication with clients and relevant team members.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, suppliers and clients.
  • Organise and attend regular client meetings

TheCandidate

The successful candidate must be either ACA or ACCA qualified with a number of years post qualified experience, demonstrable knowledge of managing staff and running a team/department within a top 20 accountancy practice with an international client base. In addition, candidates will need to be able clearly demonstrate:

  • Ability to manage variety of tasks and deadlines, good time management and able to work under pressure
  • An analytical approach with good attention to detail
  • Very strong communication skills when delivering messages to staff and clients
  • Forward thinking, demonstrating confidence to move forward with an idea
  • Demonstrate good problem solving skills
  • An enthusiastic, smart-working individual with a "can do" attitude
  • A willingness to learn and grow within a commercial environment where client care is the primary focus
  • Strong IT Skills across Xero, Dext, Sage, QuickBooks, Silverfin, Caseware
