Buyer (Manufacturing) - 12mth FTC - Edinburgh Hybrid - 45-55K

Lorien's client, an established and growing Scottish success story with their sights on further additions to their well-appreciated, global-reaching product line, are on the lookout for a Buyer with a background in Manufacturing / Production to join their R&D function on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract basis to cover maternity leave.

This person will liaise closely with external suppliers as well as key representatives from across the business, making sure the function adheres to agreed and planned costings, quality guidelines, and objectives/milestones, while also improving the firm from the inside via improvement projects and bringing new ideas to the table.

Role Outline:

• Inventory management and ensuring material availability
• Working to set inventory objectives and targets (including nonconforming/excess/etc.)
• Keeping on top of lead time, ensuring system data is regularly updated, and Purchase Orders are raised and align to demand/pricing/sourcing strategies
• Acting as the go-to SME in this domain, discussing capacity forecasts and relevant needs with suppliers, ensuring they are able to meet them, and taking the lead as the key person responsible for this
• Find and facilitate cost-reduction/other improvement initiatives with the help of current and potential supplier contacts
• Take ownership for suppliers' performance and improvement, holding regular supplier meetings and ensuring potential risks/issues/improvement opportunities are identified and addressed.
• Make sure inventory is optimised and that the supply chain is Agile enough to ensure flexibility and efficiency
• Take the reins on or contribute towards change/improvement initiatives (including NPI and function-wide)

Skills/Knowledge they're looking for:

• Previous track record in Buying/Procurement/Supply roles and ideally any relevant certifications/qualifications
• Previous supply chain/similar background in a manufacturing/production setting and knowledge of production processes
• Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills, couple with a commercial mindset
• Skills across Dynamics and Microsoft Office offerings
