Buyer | Birmingham Area | Food Retail | FMCG Categories

We are looking for a Buyer (or Junior Buyer looking to step up), with FMCG or Core Grocery category experience to join a leading independent retailer with over 340 stores across the UK in order to develop innovative buying and ranging strategies.

The Buyer role

The role encompasses all aspects of Buying & Category Management including ranging, pricing, strategy development, supplier management, promotional planning and securing income for marketing and media support.

This is a dynamic role in a fast-paced environment, with every day presenting new opportunities to learn and develop.

About you

The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, great organisation skills, be a confident communicator, be able to work at a fast pace under pressure. In return you get a lot of autonomy and responsibility to manage your categories.

  • Significant experience in FMCG Retail or Wholesale sector (Buying Sales or Category Management)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic buying environment
  • The ability to build relationships internally and externally using effective influencing skills
  • A strong and effective negotiator
  • Experience of creating and delivering Category Strategy and promotional plans
  • Numerate, with experience of analysing performance and market data
