The Role


This is a newly created position reporting to the Supply Chain Manager. The buyer role has been created due to significant growth within the organisation.
The key responsibilities for the buyer include:

  • Compiling and send out requests for quotations (RFQs) for products within the manufacturing portfolio to support timely purchase order placement.
  • Raising purchase orders based on project demand, ensuring alignment with supplier quotes and PEL requirements.
  • Regularly expediting open orders and explore opportunities to accelerate delivery, meeting manufacturing schedules.
  • Managing open orders for critical items from placement through delivery.
  • Evaluating quotations to ensure they meet requirements and align with budgets


The Business

Nigel Wright is delighted to be working exclusively with a global engineering business in the recruitment of a buyer to join their team at an exciting time. The role will be based from the site near Newcastle, whilst there is scope for some hybrid working, candidates will need to be based within commutable distance of Newcastle upon Tyne.
The Individual

The successful buyer will be/ have:
  • Previous purchasing experience in the engineering or manufacturing sector
  • Strong communication skills and able to managing and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • CIPS qualifications are advantageous.
  • Proficient in using MS Office applications, and ERP systems
  • Able to work to strict deadlines while maintaining quality.
