Caché Operational Linux Systems Administrator

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £50,952 - £57,349 per annum

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract, 16 months

The Foundation Trust is the first of its type in the UK. The Trust was formed in February 2017 to drive forward their commitment to provide the highest quality, world-class physical and mental health care for their women, children and families. Uniting their hospitals means more seamless care; more investment to make greater advances in their specialist treatment and world-leading neo-natal and fetal work. Importantly, it also gives them a greater voice in shaping the future of family-centred care.

The Role

The Caché Operational Linux Systems Administrator will report to the Operational Manager and be responsible for the implementation and administration of the strategic Operational Database (ODB) environments (Caché). The ODB is a critical core component of the Epic system and so maintaining high levels of availability and performance is key to the success of the solution. Any delays in the delivery of the warranted environment for Epic would adversely affect the Programme Delivery so delivering to tight timescales will be required.

The post holder will be responsible for the creation, configuration, and on-going management of the ODB environments that serve production, reporting, DR, training and non-production requirements. Proactive monitoring and the implementation of defined and documented processes and procedures will be required to ensure 99.9% availability.

The post holder will be required to be proactive in terms of responding to issues, engaging in capacity planning exercises, collaborating across the technical teams as well as with Epic, automating processes where possible and participating in DR and business continuity tests.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong Caché skills in a critical operational environment
  • Expert Linux skills, particularly with RHEL 7, using the CLI.
  • Excellent scripting knowledge with a particular focus on the creation of reusable scripts for automating routine tasks
  • Degree in a relevant subject or extensive equivalent experience
  • Ability to analyse & interpret highly complex information.
