Job Title: Care Home Chef

Location: Warlingham

We are looking for a highly skilled chef, to create fresh nutritious meals for our residents by way of using the best fresh ingredients available. We are looking for a passionate Chef that will lead by example and have the creative flair to showcase high level hospitality. The role consists of straight shifts & no evenings! There will be a fully supported induction showcasing the technical skills required in healthcare and an opportunity to mentor our teams to progress in our own Chef academy. We provide a warm and welcoming environment where our residents feel at home.

  • Working alternate weekends required
  • £14.90 per hour

Job Description: We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Chef to create nutritious and delicious meals for our residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing food for individuals with various dietary needs and preferences, ensuring that every meal is both enjoyable and nutritious.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare a variety of meals that cater to the dietary requirements of residents, including special diets (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, gluten-free).
  • Ensure all meals are prepared in a timely manner and presented attractively.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels.
  • Adhere to food safety and health regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with the care team to create a pleasant dining experience for residents.
  • Accommodate individual resident requests and preferences where possible.
  • Participate in menu planning and contribute to the development of new recipes.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a care home or similar environment.
  • Culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) are desirable.
  • Knowledge of dietary needs and restrictions common among elderly residents.
  • Excellent cooking skills and a passion for creating enjoyable meals.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with staff and residents.
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
