Position: Careers Advisor

Location: Schools and Colleges across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire

Type: Part-time (3 or 4 days a week, Term Time Only)

Hours: 8am to 4pm with 30 min lunch

Salary: £24,000 to £26,000 per annum (pro rata based on experience and qualifications)

Job Overview:

As a Careers Advisor, you will play a crucial role in delivering our Careers Education Service to young people in local schools, colleges, and the wider community.  You will guide and inspire them to build confidence, develop essential skills, and make informed decisions about their careers and education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Impartial IAG: Provide unbiased Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) to young people aged 14 to 18, ensuring they receive the support they need to progress successfully
  • Create Action Plans: Develop thorough and accurate action plans aimed at student success, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through consistent feedback from students and teachers
  • Conduct Sessions: Facilitate 1-2-1 and group sessions to enhance CV preparation, interview skills, confidence building, and awareness of job market opportunities
  • Design Workshops: Contribute to the creation and delivery of engaging and topical workshops to boost employability skills and help schools and colleges achieve the Gatsby Benchmarks

Key Requirements:

  • Travel Requirements: The role requires extensive travel to various schools and sites.  Mileage and expenses will be covered according to LEBC guidelines. A full driver's license is also required.
  • Flexible Hours: Occasionally, you may need to work outside regular hours, with overtime compensated as time off in lieu.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: LEBC is dedicated to safeguarding children and young people. All staff and volunteers must share this commitment and will undergo background checks, including an enhanced DBS.
