This role has a starting salary of £40,296 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week. This is a 12-month fixed term contract/secondment opportunity.

About the Role
This role will oversee the coordination and administration of careers programmes, including early careers and apprenticeships. You'll need to have excellent communication skills to be able to manage effective relationships internally and externally. Experience of managing supplier relationships is essential.

You'll need good knowledge and understanding of apprenticeships to lead the administration of our early careers provision, including the digital apprenticeship account and internal systems, ensuring that payment tracking, cohort administration and levy transfers are completed in a timely manner and financial transactions are conducted accurately and efficiently.

This role will support all aspects of career development at the council, from hire to retire. This includes supporting a range of initiatives including apprenticeships and a graduate management trainee programme. Your focus will be on:

  • Coordinating the apprenticeship programme, including supporting and advising managers, keeping accurate records and evaluating the offer
  • Managing the corporate work experience programme to offer local students an insight into working for Surrey
  • Managing the digital apprenticeship account, cohort administration, levy transfer administration
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and producing regular reports and data sets
  • Monitoring apprenticeship provider dashboard and reports and being proactive in identifying and resolving potential issues
  • Administering our supplier procurement processes including identifying success criteria, evaluating bids and gathering and reviewing quotes
  • Be willing to develop into a Subject Matter Expert in all areas of careers development

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
  • Experience of supporting career development programmes though excellent administrative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to identify problems and present solutions to improve processes
  • Experience in gathering data from multiple systems and presenting data to meet reporting requirements.
  • Understanding and experience of working within the parameters of apprenticeship funding in a large organisation and with multiple providers?
  • Understanding and experience of procurement of apprenticeships
