The CEO Business Manager (COM) will play a critical role in supporting the Chief of Staff to run and manage the key responsibilities of the CEO's office.
The COM will need to maintain a strong understanding of the CEO's and Chief of Staff's agenda and objectives and ensure the smooth running of the CEO's office. Ultimately ensuring the CEO is set up for success.

What you'll do:
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the CEO's and Chief of Staff's agenda, objectives, and strategic plans; using this insight across the Executive team to drive aligned strategic and operational decisions together with key priorities.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the CEO Office, as well as effectively oversee Board & Governance matters.
  • Ensure the CEO has appropriate and effective MI (financial, commercial, operational, conduct and risk) in order to lead the business safely and commercially.
  • Provide daily strategic, commercial and operational support to the UK CEO & Chief of Staff
  • Provide advice and insight to the UK CEO and Chief of Staff including troubleshooting, with the flexibility to take on anything asked
  • Represent Canada Life UK at meetings with key stakeholders, senior leaders, internal stakeholders, customers and other external parties. Support CEO on delivery of brand and reputation strategy as well as providing daily strategic, commercial and operational support to UK CEO.
  • Uses knowledge of the organisation and its interrelated constituent parts, industry, context and business strategy to support and provide insight to business decision making about strategic, organisational and investment choices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across senior and executive stakeholders. Demonstrating Canada Life values and being able to build awareness and engagement for the blueprint and influencing others to embody these same behaviours.
What you'll be accountable for:

  • Able to foster collaborative relationships across functions and businesses to facilitate cooperation and information exchanges that improve customer and business outcomes.
  • Inspires a vision that adapts to new realities, articulating meaningful expectations and creating clear pathways to desired outcomes.
  • Producing clear reports and updates to Executive and Senior Management.
  • Will remain compliant with Company policies, regulatory, professional & legal requirements.
  • Will have the authority and discretion to make decisions that are in line with Company risk management programmes and procedures, using sound judgement to escalate issues to Senior Management where appropriate.
What you'll bring to the role:
  • Understand the needs and demands of a senior leader's office.
  • Proven experience of being able to work with and manage senior executive stakeholders with exceptional engagement skills and being able to influence others.
  • Strong understand of core business lines and markets that Canada Life operates within
  • Strong communication skills via verbal, written and presentational delivery.
  • Strong ability to manage time in order to effectively manage multiple competing priorities at the same time.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and able to hit the ground running when dealing with complex issues.
  • Self-motivated, well-organised, pragmatic and able to perform tasks independently.
