  • Hourly Rate: £13.70 PAYE
  • Location: Leicester
  • Job Type: Part-time, 27.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday

We are seeking 3 dedicated Chefs to join our school catering teams. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving school meals, ensuring compliance with nutritional guidelines and budget parameters. This role requires decisive leadership and the ability to work flexibly, including providing cover at other locations as needed.

Working Times:
  • Start Time: 7:30 am
  • Finish Time: 2:00 pm
Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Plan and prepare meals according to pre-established menus and recipes, considering special dietary requirements.
  • Cook and serve food on-site, ensuring high standards of quality and nutrition are met.
  • Set up serving and dining areas in line with the menu and other predefined details.
  • Interact with children and school staff during food service.
  • Oversee the packing and distribution of food for other schools (for production hub kitchens).
  • Conduct routine cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment.
  • Supervise and direct the activities of onsite staff involved in food production and service.
  • Engage with children, parents, and carers to promote school meals and introduce new menus and ideas.
  • Manage kitchen logistics, including rotas, safety checks, stock control, and maintaining food safety records.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Chef, preferably within a school or similar environment.
  • Ability to lead and supervise a team effectively.
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
  • Excellent cooking skills with the ability to produce a high standard of food.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
