Are you Degree qualified Chemical Process Engineer with a focus on Process Safety?
 
We are looking for an experienced individual to join a friendly and dynamic engineering team based in Middlesbrough, Teesside but with the opportunity to travel throughout the UK and possibly abroad.
 
This is a very exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic applicant to join a small but developing engineering department. As such, the team needs to flexible and multi-skilled to meet the demands of a growing business.
 
You will have an appropriate chemical process engineering degree and have appropriate qualifications and experience in process safety methodology such as HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA etc.
 
This role is initially offered on a one-year fixed term contract.
 
What you’ll be doing…
 
Reporting to the Group Head of Engineering, you will be expected to provide chemical process engineering and process safety expertise to the engineering team and wider business:
  • Leading process safety improvement initiatives across the group, including existing operations, projects and HSE intervention visit actions.
  • Liaise with relevant competent authorities (HSE, EA) on matters of process safety, particularly around COMAH compliance.
  • Be the company technical authority on all matters relating to process design and safety.
  • Assess existing operations to identify areas for process and process safety improvement.
Your background…
 
Must have…
  • Relevant degree in chemical process engineering.
  • Comprehensive training and experience in process safety.
  • Working knowledge of associated regulations such as COMAH, DSEAR etc.
  • Good level of IT competency essential, particularly in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness to travel as required, with own transport preferable.
Nice to have…
  • Experience with AutoCAD, particularly in the production of P & IDs & PFDs.
  • Experience in the Chlorine or hazardous gas industry would be advantageous.
  • Experience in the personal care industry would be advantageous.
  • Experience in the Food industry and BRCGS would be advantageous.
