We are currently looking for a Senior Support Worker to join the Care team in bridgend. The senior Support worker role is there to deliver high standards of care, protection and support to children and young people with complex and/or additional learning needs by facilitating their emotional, physical, psychological, recreational and social development.

Job Description

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities
* Responsible for the direct care of the children/young people under the
guidance of the Registered Manager and Responsible Individual and
support the staff team when on duty.
* Actively promote Ty Ni's philosophy of creating a happy, efficient, family
style home and maintain the home's statement of purpose, abiding by all
policies and procedures.
Professional Childcare Practice
* Help promote a stimulating, caring and culturally appropriate environment
for children and young people.
* Provide practical and emotional support to enable children and young
people under the guidance of the Registered Manager.
* Work closely with the children and young people and their families
according to programmes and care plans that have been put in place.
* Assist in key working children and young people.

* Write review reports and other reports as required.
* Help settle new children and young people into the home.
* Ensure that all the records of the children and young people are kept up to
date and on file at all times.
* In the absence of the Registered Manager, to be the staff member in
charge on shift.
* Assist the Registered Manager in managing a staffed residential home for
children/young people with complex needs and/or additional learning
needs.
* Administer medication if necessary and keep all records up to date.
* Involved in the assessment, and admission of new children/young people
into the home.
* Involved and responsible for setting up and implementing care plans for
children/young people.
* Responsible for meeting the needs of the children and young people and
communicating these to other staff and professionals involved.
* Involved in review meetings concerning children and young people.
To Participate in a Full Range of Caring Duties
* Supporting children and young people with leisure activities and skill
development inside and outside the home.
* Domestic duties within the home (washing, cleaning, cooking and menu
planning, etc).
* Participation in house shopping with children and young people where
possible.
* Listening to children and young people, including their feelings about any
difficulties they may be having.
* Encouraging children and young people to keep their rooms clean and tidy
and keep their personal possessions safe.
* Accompanying children and young people on holidays and short breaks.
* Helping children and young people make informed choices.
* Help ensure that the health needs of each child/young person is met and
any additional appointments to other services are attended.
* Ensure that each child/young people maintain a healthy and well-balanced
diet considering their likes/dislikes and cultural preferences.
* Carry out key working sessions.
* Participate in conflict resolution and debrief sessions at the end of each
shift.
* Facilitate regular `In House` meetings with staff, children and young
people.
* Carry out Health & Safety and C.O.S.H.H checks as required and be
aware of new legislation.
* Carry out risk assessments and reviews.
* Assist with shift planning and delegation of tasks when on duty.

To Help Children and Young People Express Their Needs and Have These
Met

* Implementation of individual plans and their ongoing development.
* Establishing good relationships with other children and young people,
adults, relatives and advocates.
* Ensuring records are kept up to date on electronic monitoring system at all
times.
Liaison and Administration
* Establish a good relationship with children and young people, friends and
advocates.
* Work closely and in a professional manner with other professionals, both
within and outside the home e.g., GP's, Consultants, Therapists, Social
Workers etc
* Use communication systems effectively, electronic monitoring systems
and verbally to colleagues.

Hours And Annual Leave
* Each staff member will have a 4-weekly rota with equal shifts across all
positions. These include mornings, afternoons, waking nights, sleep in
shifts and weekends. Senior staff may be required to complete some on
call duties as required.
* Holiday entitlement is 20 days per year, and Bank Holidays.
* Pay is a minimum of the Living Wage rate starting at £13, plus sleep in
rate of £65.00
