Prospero Health and Social Care are recruiting for Residential Support Workers for children's homes within and around the Tameside area, for young people between the ages of 10-17 years old who have emotional and behavioural difficulties. We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, and motivated people who want to make a difference in the lives of young people.

You will need to be able to identify and report any safeguarding issues to help assist the young person's development and keep them on track. Within the role you'll deal with difficult behaviour, a range of mental health issues and disabilities, so experience is essential.

The responsibilities for this role include:

  • Actively engaging with the young people with their interests and aspirations.
  • Ensuring the young people's safety and well-being is always protected.
  • Uphold essential safeguarding.
  • Support vulnerable and difficult young people, with different types of mental health issues.
  • Building relationships with the young people and providing high levels of care and support.
  • Providing physical and emotional support which include helping with household tasks.
  • Support service users with preparation of meals, personal hygiene, cleaning and laundry - maintaining a healthy home environment.

Criteria for these roles are:

  • Previous experience in a similar role working with young people (12 months UK experience).
  • Emotional resilience.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service, or willingness to obtain a new one.
  • Drivers preferred as locations can spread and be varying.
  • High levels of professionalism and non-judgemental attitude - regardless of the service user's needs.
  • References covering the last 3 years of employment.
