Civil Engineer (Poole Location)

Adecco Bournemouth is seeking a proactive Civil Engineer for a position in Poole. This role supports senior engineering staff and leads specific tasks and projects. The successful candidate will manage the design process for various infrastructure and private sector development schemes, primarily focused on drainage. This role bridges the gap between Senior Engineers, Senior Technicians, and CAD Technicians, requiring the candidate to manage and delegate tasks to junior team members effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Document Production: Create Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Statements, and Transportation Reports for planning permission applications.
  • Design Support: Assist in producing Drainage/Highway designs for development projects and secure S278/S38 (Highways Act) and S104/S106 (Water Act) technical approvals.
  • Drawing Production: Generate drawings using ACAD as needed.
  • Team Management: Delegate and manage CAD and technician resources to meet deadlines.
  • Client Liaison: Communicate with clients and design teams, manage project deliverables, and report to project managers.
  • Budget Management: Ensure project delivery within budget constraints.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Educational Background: HND/C or a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years post-graduation experience.
    • Experience with Drainage and Highways Sectional Agreements.
    • Experience preparing highway designs and specifications.
    • Experience in detailed drainage and SuDs design using WINDES.
    • Experience in the delegation and management of technician and CAD resources.
    • Excellent communication and written skills, with the ability to compile and check reports and apply QA procedures.
    • Competency in Microsoft Office programs.
    • Proficiency in ACAD and Civil 3D.
    • Knowledge of DMRB Manual for Streets, British Standards, and Sewers for Adoption.
    • Experience working as part of a design-build project is an advantage.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, presentation skills, and ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders.
