To support training, learning and assessment on a range of high quality, Building Services Civil
Engineering apprenticeship frameworks and standards, and the associated administrative responsibilities.

Responsible to: Head of Apprenticeships and Partnership Provision



Key Responsibilities
  • To develop, maintain and account manage relationships with local employers.
  • To deliver high quality apprenticeships by carrying out coaching, workplace assessment and delivering underpinning knowledge and support within Building Services Engineering.
  • To provide ongoing training and assessment so learners are fully prepared for their ongoing and End Point Assessment.
  • To screen potential new employers to ensure they have a clear understanding of the obligations in respect of apprentices and at the same time complete appropriate paperwork.
  • To ensure that all employers are able to offer sufficient opportunities for apprentices to develop their skills and demonstrate their competency in all areas.
  • To take an active part in the recruitment of new apprentices through contact with local employers – managing key accounts, schools and through events. You will be responsible for securing a caseload sufficient to hit your targets.
  • To complete all required information under the projects to include Initial Assessment and Individual Learning Plan for each apprentice and to regularly review progress against this with the apprentice and their employer to ensure that they remain on track to achieve their qualification timely and to provide swift intervention where students are at risk of falling behind.
  • To ensure that you achieve all targets within the agreed timescale.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and comprehensive progression, performance and target information is maintained using the College’s e-portfolio (Smart Assessor) system for apprenticeship delivery.
  • To lead Building Services Engineering course review, lead internal verification and manage external verification procedures within the area alongside Head of Quality.

  • To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College Group ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of College life.
  • To take a proactive approach and responsibility for personal professional development, Health & Safety, and meeting other regulatory compliances (e.g. GDPR, DPA, Safeguarding), thereby enabling safe and professional working practices to be observed at all times.
  • To support cross college actives as required in particular the key enrolment and invigilation periods.
  • Carry out any other relevant and appropriate duties as determined by the needs of the service and as appropriate to the grade.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Has experience and/or holds a Level 4, degree or other relevant qualification in an appropriate subject.
  • Holds relevant assessor qualifications. 
  • Holds English & Maths GCSE or equivalent 
  • Is an effective communicator, able to deal successfully with all levels of management, apprentices, tutors and employers.
  • Is willing to work flexibly, including evenings when required.
  • Is conversant with current assessment procedures and able to assess up to Level 3
  • Holds a current driving license and has access to their own vehicle. 
  • Has an understanding of their responsibilities relating to the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Has an understanding of equal opportunities and a positive attitude towards them. 
  • Be aware of, and maintain compliance with, all school and college requirements relating to Health and Safety.
