We are recruiting for a Client Accountant on behalf of our client, a prominent specialist Commercial and Residential Property services firm in Southend-On-Sea, who have a rich history spanning over 70 years.

Role Description

The Client Accountant will manage a personal portfolio of clients, addressing the needs of leaseholders and tenants. This role involves close cooperation with the Property Management team and plays a crucial role in our accounts team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing, reconciling, and recharging annual service charge accounts
  • Reviewing and maintaining service charge setups for designated properties
  • Collaborating with property management colleagues and responding to their requirements
  • Assisting property management teams in budgeting for your managed properties
  • Updating service charge budgets and revising occupier/landlord information as needed
  • Reconciling direct recoverables, including utility recharges
  • Sending monthly or quarterly statements to clients, based on the portfolio
  • Managing move-ins and move-outs for your properties
  • Handling arrears within your portfolio
  • Exhibiting strong property management experience, particularly in service charges, and working independently
  • Demonstrating excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Programming and issuing Service charge, Ground Rent, Insurance, and Rent Demands
  • Monitoring workload and creating schedules to manage responsibilities effectively
  • Addressing queries from landlords, tenants, and suppliers
  • Activating new tenancies and processing renewals

Key Skills

  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic and excellent time management
  • Team-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines; proficiency in Excel is a plus
  • Eager to learn and enthusiastic
  • Capable of taking ownership of tasks
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
