Job Title: Climate Risk Strategy Lead

Salary: £70,000 - £85,000 + Company Benefits

Our client is a renowned Sustainability Consultancy who are experts in assisting top companies across various industry sectors. As the business expands, we are seeking a Climate Risk Strategy Lead, a Senior role pivotal in driving climate risk and sustainability strategy.

About the Role:

As a Climate Risk Strategy Lead, you will guide mid to large companies in the UK and EU through the complexities of regulatory and investor disclosures, supporting both sell-side and buy-side due diligence. Your expertise will be crucial in formulating sustainability strategies, conducting comprehensive climate risk assessments, and driving climate-related financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sustainability Strategy Development: Lead a team in creating and implementing sustainability strategies while assessing climate risks and opportunities.
  • Climate Risk Reporting: Oversee the strategic development and operational execution of climate-related financial and risk reporting.
  • ESG Initiative Execution: Collaborate with private equity firms and portfolio companies to evaluate, assess, and execute ESG initiatives aimed at optimizing value generation and risk management.
  • TCFD Assessments: Conduct TCFD assessments, reviewing governance structures, risk management frameworks, and financial projections to integrate climate change considerations into strategic plans.
  • Physical Climate Risk Integration: Lead the integration of physical climate risk assessments and transition strategies into business practices.
  • Sustainability Frameworks: Provide consultancy on sustainability frameworks, standards, and disclosure requirements (including TCFD, SFDR, ESRS, IFRS S1&2, CSRD, CFD, EU Taxonomy, B-Corp).
  • ESG Profile Analysis: Conduct in-depth analyses of companies' ESG profiles, devising and executing suitable ESG strategies.
  • Climate Modelling: Develop climate sensitivity and scenario modelling.

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Climate Risk Expertise: Experience in performing climate transition risk analysis within a consultancy or similar client-facing environment.
  • Financial Modelling: Profound knowledge in financial modelling, P&L, balance sheets, and forecasting, with a focus on developing climate sensitivity and scenario modelling.
  • TCFD and CSRD Experience: Expertise in supporting clients with TCFD disclosures, including financed emissions, and experience with CSRD.
  • Analytical Skills: Highly analytical, capable of translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • Climate Strategy Proficiency: Experience in climate strategies, risk analysis and management, financial accounting, GHG accounting and data management, internal carbon pricing, carbon credits and removals, climate target setting, and transition planning.
  • Consultancy Experience: At least 5+ years in a consultancy role focusing on climate strategies, risk analysis and management, or a closely related field. A strong track record in financial analysis and climate-related disclosures is essential.
