Job Advert Role Description
The Priory Highbank Centre specialises in complex neuro-disability, including care of tracheostomy and mechanically ventilated patients.
If successful, you would become part of our dedicated multidisciplinary team who offer evidence-based approach to patient-centred care and therapy to help complex patients maximise their physical, emotional and social potential.
You will be an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist (at least 2-3 years post qualification) who has experience working in Neurological services and who is capable of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. Working in conjunction with other members of the MDT, including physiotherapists, speech and language therapist, neuropsychologist, medical and nursing teams, you will manage your own caseload and be able to work autonomously, flexibly and creatively. You will be part of a committed, forward thinking and supportive multi-disciplinary team who work together and place emphasis on patient centred recovery and best outcomes for our patients.
The successful candidate will be required to:
• Carry out OT assessments to identify patient needs, before planning and delivering the appropriate interventions on either an individual or group basis.
• Manage and co-ordinate individual OT treatment plans, facilitate groups and oversee the unit programmes.
• Compose OT reports and attend multidisciplinary meetings.
• Work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team for patient care and treatment.
• Deliver supervision to Therapy Assistants where appropriate.
• Develop close working relationships with external professionals and clinical colleagues, ensuring clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards.
• Maintain effective communication links with patients, relatives, carers and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
The post holder will be qualified and registered with HCPC with Specialist skill and experience of working with brain injuries in a mixture of physical, sensory, cognitive, emotional & psychological difficulties e.g. prolonged disorders of consciousness, acute and long term tracheostomy and ventilated dependency, although full training can be provided for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for a disclosure at the enhanced level from the Disclosure & Barring Services, which will be paid for by the Priory.
