NRG is thrilled to announce we are working alongside a leading Utility organisation in their search for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. This is an exciting time to join our client during a dynamic period of growth as they as they enhance their core infrastructure.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Infrastructure Team Lead, you will support cloud technologies and manage project delivery alongside internal and external support vendors across various technologies.

You will efficiently and professionally resolve incidents and requests in accordance with service level agreements. Your primary responsibility is the delivery of cloud services for our client’s network and server environments. The ideal candidate should be technically adept, with experience in designing and implementing cloud solutions.

This role provides the freedom to explore and implement optimal solutions for the organisation, while allowing you to enhance your technical skills by working with and configuring complex products and technologies.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Deliver high-quality IT support and manage project delivery effectively.
  • Configure and deploy cloud services, third-party tools, and integrations.
  • Provide technical consultation on existing and proposed cloud services.
  • Participate in planning and scoping for highly available cloud solutions.
  • Assist the Service Desk team with the support of existing cloud services and infrastructure as needed.
  • Maintain and create essential technical documentation.
  • Embrace a DevOps culture and stay updated with the latest industry cloud offerings.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficiency with core AWS services, including EC2, Storage, IAM, SNS, Lambda, Databases, Route 53, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, API Gateways, and Systems Manager.
  • Experience in deploying infrastructure as code.
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining code pipelines.
  • Capability to understand and manage AWS VPC network roles, such as Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, VPNs, ACLs, NACLs, Peering, and Route Tables.
  • Knowledge of DevOps principles, including continuous delivery and continuous integration.
  • Experience in configuring and maintaining server OS systems.
  • Familiarity with AWS billing and management.
  • Experience in performing root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues.
  • Exposure to infrastructure project delivery.
  • Familiarity of high availability, backup technologies, RTO, and RPO.
  • Strong understanding of AWS security best practices.
  • Participation in an after-hours on-call rotation (1 in 4 weeks).

Desirables:

  • ITIL practices and knowledge of change control.
  • Understanding of networking topologies, such as switching, VLANs, routing, remote access, and various switching layers.
  • Familiarity with additional AWS services such as IoT, Machine Learning, auto-scaling, and containerisation.
  • Experience with cloud automation tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and JSON.
  • Experience with FortiGate routers and firewalls.

Relevant certifications, including:

  • ITIL certification.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate Level.
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate Level.
  • AWS Certified Developer - Associate Level.
