CNC Grinder

Location: Hemel Hempstead
Salary: £22 - £25 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time, 39.5 hrs: 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, 4pm finish Friday (30 min lunch)

Company Overview:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Grinder Operator to join our client, a Hemel Hempstead manufacturer, in their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC grinding machines to produce high-quality components according to precise specifications. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programming & Setting: Efficiently program and set machines to optimise cycle times.
  • Tool Utilization: Be aware of available tooling and utilise it effectively.
  • Job Management: Ensure every job is clocked and time recorded accurately.
  • Process Improvement: Program and set machines within allocated times or improve where possible.
  • Data Logging: Accurately log information on tooling sheets, updating amendments as necessary.
  • Program Recall: Recall and amend saved programs correctly.
  • Quality Control: Ensure components submitted for first-off inspection meet drawing requirements the first time.
  • Job Preparation: Where practical, pre-set/program for the next job in advance.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Technical Expertise: Experience with programming, setting, and operating Studer CNC Grinders and manual machines.
  • Mathematical Understanding: Some understanding of mathematical concepts, including trigonometry.
  • Manufacturing Experience: Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Professionalism: Commercial awareness and professionalism in all aspects of the role.
  • Educational Background: A good standard of general education with basic computer and numerical skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Astute attention to detail with steady hand-eye coordination.
  • Organisational Skills: Good organisational skills, methodical and accurate in work.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Independence: Ability to work to tight tolerances without supervision.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to work under pressure and solve problems effectively.
  • Integrity: Demonstrate integrity in all aspects of the role.
  • Flexibility: A flexible approach to meet changing business demands, including possible overtime to suit production plans.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently while also willing to collaborate as part of a team to achieve divisional objectives.
