Precision Components Ltd is a leading manufacturing of compressor rotor screws based in Rochdale. We specialise in the manufacture of high-quality precision engineered helical components for various industries. As part of our growth and expansion, we are currently seeking a time-served CNC Machine Programmer Setter  Miller to join our dynamic team. Critical to this role is the use of FANUC controls.

Job Purpose:

As part of a multi-skilled and friendly engineering team, you will program, set up, and operate CNC VMC & HMC machines to produce precision components to a high specification and rigorous quality standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Programme, set up, and operate VMC & HMC machines, specifically Doosan machines with Fanuc CNC controls, to mill parts with 0.010mm tolerances.
  • Interpret technical drawings and job orders to determine machine setup requirements.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, attachments, and fixtures for each job.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure parts meet specification using conventional measurement techniques (micrometers/gauges/verniers), diagnose errors and correct any deviation.
  • Monitor machine operations, making necessary adjustments and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimise production processes.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Train other operators when required and mentor apprentices. 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a time-served CNC operator Miller with machine set-up and programming experience in FANUC controls.
  • Experience in producing complex components to very tight tolerances.
  • High proficiency in operating a range of milling, VMC, and HMC machines.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately with minimum supervision.
  • Willingness to learn other machine operations with training.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating shift pattern.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Knowledge of metal cutting techniques and Lean principles.
  • Qualified Advanced Modern Apprenticeship or recognised time-served certification. 
  • Other relevant training an advantage: FLT, health & safety, manual handling, Lean, 5 S, etc.

Salary & Benefits:

£16.45 - £17.75 per hr, premium overtime rates - overtime available  
Two-week rotating shift pattern, 38:20 hr week – early finish on a Friday:
Week 1: Mon to Thurs: 5:45 till 14:10, Fri: 5:45-11:45
Week 2: 14:10 till 22:15, Fri: 11:45 till 19:25
