Position: CNC Turner Operator - Permanent Nights
Location: Chesterfield 
Salary:
Up to £20ph 
Shifts:
Permanent Nights
Monday-Wednesday 17:30-06:00
Thursday 17:30-03:00 (option to work overtime until 06:00 at 1.3x overtime rate)

Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled CNC Turner Operator to set and operate CNC machinery. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to produce high quality products that confirm to customer expectations. 

Responsibilities:

  • Set and operate CNC turning machines using FANUC controls.
  • Collaborate with operators and inspectors to standardise inspection methods.
  • Operate multiple machines in sequence and measure parts using micrometers.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment, meeting production targets while checking for defects and quality issues.
  • Maintain shop floor controls and measuring equipment.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and suggest improvements to the direct manager.
  • Communicate and reinforce the company’s commitment to quality improvement efforts.
  • Comply with H&S legal requirements, policies, and procedures at all times.
  • Work within the ISO9001 quality management system and meet customer-specific requirements.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering and/or equivalent or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role (desirable).
  • GCSE A-D in English and Math or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experienced CNC setter/operator with knowledge of FANUC controls.
  • Previous experience with milling or turning machines.
  • Competent in working with various materials, including stainless steels, Inconel, and other alloys.
  • Experience in a precision environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Logical and methodical thinking.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on CNC machinery, preferably in a subcontract manufacturing environment. As this is a night shift position, candidates must be comfortable working independently and maintaining high standards.
