Do you have an enthusiasm for historic houses and caring for their collections? We’re looking for a Collections Assistant to join us to support the team in delivering high collections care standards and inspiring visitor experiences.
You'll work 22.5 hours over 3 days per week. You'll work from 8am-4pm with regular weekend working.
What it's like to work hereReporting to the Collections and House Manager you'll work closely on a daily basis with our two Collections and House Officers and two other Collections Assistants. You'll be part of a flexible team doing a variety of different tasks to support a fast moving property.
Located just outside of Stafford, Shugborough is a large complete historic estate with Georgian Mansion, Servants Quarters, Park Farm, parkland and formal gardens. Shugborough is a thriving fast-paced busy property to work at, where there is always something exciting happening. The property team strive to be innovating in our ways of working to inspire our staff, volunteers and visitors in the care and conservation work we do.
The House team thrive in this busy environment constantly adapting and working hard to improve care of our collections.
What you'll be doingAs a Collections Assistant, you’ll be working with a great housekeeping team in an incredible place, helping with the day-to-day cleaning and care of the collections. No detail will go unnoticed, and you’ll keep a keen eye on everything from the environmental conditions in a room, to signs of wear and tear. You’ll keep accurate records too.
In this visitor facing role, we’d love you to talk to visitors about the work you’re doing, and the collections we have. You'll also be part of the wider team of employees and volunteers, helping to cover where necessary.
Dynamic and varied, in your role you'll maintain good communication and customer service, work well with volunteers, while looking after a collection of historic objects.
