Our client is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Commercial & Programmes Controller to join their team. This pivotal role involves overseeing the sales forecasting processes and managing all programme accounting for the NW Europe region, which includes the UK, Ireland, and Israel. The forecasting responsibilities span a range of timeframes, from 5-year strategic plans to monthly rolling forecasts.

Description

  • Sales Forecasting:

    • Oversee the maintenance of the rolling monthly Market Review forecast for Order Intake and Revenue for an 18-month horizon in the NW Europe market.
    • Stay current with developments in Programmes, Sales, and Operations to update rolling forecasts, annual budgets, programmes accounting, and invoicing accordingly.
  • Programme Management:

    • Ensure forecasts are aligned and updated with the latest commercial information, providing variance explanations as required.
    • Manage all IFRS15 issues in conjunction with the UK Financial Controller to ensure accurate accounting and forecasting.
    • Monthly review of all programmes balances (WIP, deferred revenue, unbilled), raising accruals or other entries as needed.
  • Reporting and Analysis:

    • Prepare weekly KPIs for the Market Head and monthly Market Review presentations and data submissions to Divisional HQ.
    • Support the UK Financial Controller with commercial variance explanations for internal reporting and external audits.
    • Prepare financial models to support bids and tenders for programmes and review pricing details for accuracy.
  • Process Improvement:

    • Lead Revenue and Order Intake for the annual Budget & Strat Plan (5-year forecast) process.
    • Utilize Smiths Excellence System LEAN tools to refine and improve forecasting and budgeting efficiency.
    • Monitor and drive improvements in SAP data accuracy entered by Sales and Operations teams.
  • Team Management:

    • Manage a team responsible for delivering all the above tasks, ensuring adherence to internal controls and accounting policies regarding programmes accounting and bids & tenders.
    • Foster close working relationships within the cross-functional market matrix team to facilitate communication and understanding of issues.

Profile

  • Qualifications:

    • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
    • Strong knowledge or experience with IFRS standards, particularly IFRS15.
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in commercial sales forecasting and analysis for decision-making.
    • Familiarity with SAP programme accounting, including WBS structures, ZPLANS, and reporting.
  • Skills:

    • Commercially astute with a strong international, matrix environment background.
    • Proficient communicator capable of confidently interacting with senior leadership.
    • Excellent MS Office/Excel skills and proficiency with SAP and management information systems (Oracle EPBCS).
  • Additional Skills:

    • Foreign language proficiency (especially Hebrew) is advantageous.
