Panoramic Associates are working with a council in the Midlands who are in the search for a Commercial Contracts Lawyer to support the Head of Service, Legal Services Manager, and Team Leaders in delivering a reliable, proactive, and accessible Legal Service. The successful candidate will provide practical and solution-focused legal advice to Members, Officers, and collaborative partners, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and the Councils' constitution.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise Members and Officers on legal matters to ensure compliance with the law.
- Deputise for Team Leaders as necessary.
- Contribute to the effective delivery of a value-for-money legal service.
- Fulfil additional duties as assigned by senior management.
- Handle a full range of contracts and procurement matters, including grants, government funding schemes, IT contracts, and framework agreements.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for client departments on public procurement advice.
- Provide additional support to the Housing team on accommodation, homelessness transition, and complex care issues.
- Advise on Construction contracts, predominantly JCTs, with occasional NECs.
Requirements
- Preference for an experienced Solicitor with a strong background in public sector contracts and local government.
- Previous experience advising a District Council is preferred.
- Additional preference for Construction experience.
- Character is paramount; candidates should demonstrate confidence in handling matters independently; ability to research and seek solutions autonomously is essential.
- Familiarity with The Procurement Regulations 2024 is preferred; training opportunities may be limited.
