Commercial Trading Underwriter - (SB305)

Salary is competitive depending on experience

Location - Bristol

As a Commercial Insurance Trading underwriter you will be responsible for servicing Brokers, underwriting new business, renewals, and MTAs. This role is for someone who comes from a broking or underwriting background and is passionate about developing in their career. You will be aligned to a portfolio of brokers/customers to proactively develop and profitably grow their commercial book of business.

This role does require you to go out on broker visits across the South West so there is a need to be flexible with travel.

Underwriter Role:

  • To be a multiclass Underwriter who operates within agreed guidelines and authority levels to profitably grow the book of business.
  • Great communicator who regularly has meaningful face to face meetings with brokers and/or customers to build their Insurer.
  • Deal end to end with brokers/customers book of business.

Skills and experience:

  • Previous property & liability underwriting experience is preferred, but not essential - Full training can be provided, but some experience of working in Insurance is essential.
  • The ability to analyse risks and communicate and present effectively to brokers and/or customers.
  • Work collaboratively within a large complex organisation.
  • Good knowledge of the FCA and other relevant regulation and legislation.
  • Strong commercial business acumen to create and deliver business cases.
