Commercial IP Associate – Birmingham

This is an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Associate with at least 2 years’ post-qualification experience and a background in intellectual property matters to join a high-performing and friendly team. You will be involved in a broad mix of commercial and IP-related work, with the chance to build lasting relationships with clients in sectors such as technology, fashion and retail. Key Responsibilities:
- Advising on a variety of IP matters, including copyright, trade marks and brand protection
- Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements involving IP and related rights
- Supporting clients on advertising, marketing and consumer law compliance
- Collaborating with colleagues across commercial, litigation and corporate teams on cross-disciplinary matters
- Playing a role in business development initiatives and client relationship management
- Keeping up to date with changes in relevant legislation and market trends
- Assisting in the training and development of junior team members, where appropriate
Requirements:
- A qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience in commercial and IP law
- Solid understanding of intellectual property rights and how they apply within commercial contexts
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts with an IP element
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commercial awareness and the ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused advice
- A collaborative approach and willingness to support colleagues across the wider team
- A proactive attitude and enthusiasm for client engagement and development
