Job Title: Commercial Law Solicitor/Partner

PQE Guide: 3+ to Partner

Location: Huddersfield

Contract Details: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per year

About Our Client:

Our client is a prestigious legal organisation based in Huddersfield, specialising in personal and corporate law. With dedicated teams of experts, they provide comprehensive legal solutions in areas such as commercial contracts, corporate law, employment law, real estate, lasting powers of attorney, trusts, conveyancing, personal injury and family law.

This new vacancy is for the TIGA Games Award winning commercial department, who have a particularly strong specialism within the gaming industry and have an enviable client base that includes international publishers, developers, artwork studios and composers.

Responsibilities:

As a Commercial Law Solicitor/Partner, you will join their friendly and award-winning Commercial Team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting and advising on terms and conditions of sale/purchase (B2B and B2C).
  • Handling long-term supply agreements, distribution/agency agreements, and consultancy agreements.
  • Managing software agreements, including SaaS, together with intellectual property issues that may be involved across projects.
  • Creating website terms and conditions, and privacy policies.
  • Working across multiple sectors, including services, technology, engineering, manufacturing, ecommerce, and medical devices.
  • Assisting with a full range of legal matters in the video games sector, including AAA games development, game publishing, indie studio start-ups and everything in between.
  • Advising on proposed marketing initiatives for games sector clients.
  • Conducting due diligence exercises and preparing paperwork for commercial aspects of corporate transactions.
  • Involvement in intellectual property transactional work.

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Minimum 3 years PQE (Post-Qualification Experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial law.
  • Strong knowledge of intellectual property and software.
  • Ability to handle a wide range of legal matters, including drafting and advising upon contracts, website-related terms and privacy policies.

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

The following qualifications and experience will be advantageous:

  • Experience in international contracts and knowledge of Incoterms.
  • Familiarity with the video games industry and passion for gaming.
