Community Project Coordinator

We are looking for an outgoing individual to coordinate the successful delivery of the place-based project for a growing healthcare charity.

Position: Community Project Coordinator

Location: Luton

Salary: £33,715 per annum FTE (£20,229 part time salary)

Hours: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week

Contract: 2-year fixed term contract

About the Role:

This role is an exciting opportunity to work within the charities Volunteering & Public Engagement Team coordinating the successful delivery of their first place-based project. This role combines the opportunity to lead community engagement activities in Luton and create sustainable volunteer-led activities across the programme.

About you:

Reporting to the Head of Volunteering & Public Engagement you will engage with all sections of Luton’s communities. You must have a strong knowledge of the Luton area as the role is solely focused on coordinating the charities Luton Programme. You will have previous experience in building a sustainable place-based, community-led approach, engaging volunteers and developing stakeholder partnerships and referral pathways.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide overall coordination in the planning and delivery of the charities programme. Be a highly visible central point of contact in Luton, promoting the charity within the community.
  • Produce reporting to meet the requirements of the programme funder, ensuring they are satisfied at each key milestone stage to continue the funding allocation.
  • Work effectively to develop and then coordinate a stakeholder network of partner organisations in Luton by the end of the programme, formalising partnership relationships with appropriate community, business, and charity organisations.
  • Support the development, recruitment and training of new volunteers, establishing at least one volunteer-led peer support group by the end of the programme.
  • Support the collaborative planning, development and implementation of volunteers’ participation in key programme and activities, to include project coordination, planning and reporting.
  • Supporting governance structures related to the programme, including establishing a reporting and evaluation structure that meets the needs of the programme’s funders.
  • Understand relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements connected with the work programme, including internal policies and regulation such as GDPR, and safeguarding.

Essential skills:

  • Experience of coordinating volunteers and a sound understanding of the issues that affect them.
  • Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers, including understanding the importance of safeguarding and stewardship.
  • Experience of producing local community, partners and volunteer materials and communications.
  • Experience of delivering presentations and organising community events.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A friendly, positive outlook with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, including the ability to motivate, guide and support individuals.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience using CRM systems.
